On August 15, 2019, the Hon'ble Prime Minister announced the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) - Har Ghar Jal to improve the 'quality of life' and 'ease of living in rural areas by providing guaranteed tap water to every rural household in the country by 2024. JJM has been implemented in collaboration with states since then.
It's all about ensuring that every home and public institution, including schools, AWCs, ashram shalas, PHC, CHC, community centres, wellness centres, and GP buildings, has access to safe drinking water. JJM wants to strengthen the local village community's capacity to ensure long-term drinking water security.
