PM Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014, to expedite efforts to attain universal sanitation coverage. The mission was carried out as a state-wide effort with the goal of ending open defecation in rural regions by changing people's habits and building toilets. By 2nd October 2019, all villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States, and UTs in rural India had declared themselves "open-defecation free" (ODF) by installing over 100 million toilets.
The Mission is pressing on with Phase II of SBMG to guarantee that open defecation-free behaviours are maintained, that no one is left behind, and that solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible.

Municipal Corporation Faridabad's innovative awareness and cleanliness campaign at International Suraj Kund Mela 2022 was well managed. No garbage was seen and the message of PM Modi was taken to masses. Great contribution under the leadership of Commissioner, MCF Yashpal IAS.
